KUCHING (June 10): The Telang Usan District has been classified as orange zone from yellow while Lundu District reverted to yellow zone from orange after recording 37 and 19 new Covid-19 cases respectively in the past two weeks, said the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).
The other orange zones were Simunjan and Matu, while the other yellow zones were Pusa, Julau, Saratok, Belaga, Lawas, Daro, Tebedu and Limbang with a total of 102 cases.
The red zones were Song, Sebauh, Kabong, Dalat, Bau, Marudi, Meradong, Lubok Antu, Beluru, Asajaya, Tanjung Manis, Tatau, Bukit Mabong, Betong, Sri Aman, Pakan, Kanowit, Selangau, Subis, Mukah, Sarikei, Samarahan, Serian, Kuching, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and Sibu which recorded a total of 8,470 cases.
The Health Ministry categorises a district with no Covid-19 cases as a green zone, and over a two-week period, with one to 20 local transmission cases as yellow, 21 to 40 as orange and 41 and more as red.
Meanwhile, the police had issued 66 compounds, 22 in Kuching, Bintulu (15), Sibu (15), Padawan (5), Sarikei (3), Miri (2), Lawas (2) Betong (1) and Kapit (1) for violating the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP).
The offences were congregating and partying at an entertainment centre (12), operating businesses not allowed during MCO (10), loitering in public past 10pm (9), not scanning MySejahtera (9), ferrying of passengers over the allowed limit (8), gathering at public places (5), no physical distance (5), not wearing face mask (4), fishing in public places (2), dine-in (2) and inter-district travel without permit (1).
“The total number of compounds issued since the Movement Control Order was implemented in March 18, 2020 to-date was 7,520,” said SDMC.
Similarly, the Local Government and Housing Ministry also issued a total of 23 compounds, under Serian District Council (5), Sri Aman District Council (5), Bintulu Development Authority (3), Miri City Council (2), Kapit District Council (2), Sibu Municipal Council (2), Simunjan District Council (1), Samarahan Municipal Council (1), Sibu Rural District Council (1) and Sarikei District Council (1).
The offences were not updating attendance book or incomplete book (10), not scanning MySejahtera (5), not wearing face mask (4) and operating without permission (4).
This brings the total number of compounds issued since Feb 1 to-date to 967.
