Covid-19: Two new clusters detected in S’wak involving three longhouses under EMCO

KUCHING (June 10): The State Health Department has declared two new Covid-19 community clusters today –  the Bali Pie Cluster in Subis and Jalan Samarakan Cluster in Tatau – involving three longhouses placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).

The Bali Pie Cluster involved two longhouses at Sungai Bakas, Sibuti, Subis, and infection spread due to social interaction and close contact amongst the residents.

“A total of 243 individuals screened with 62 positive and 181 negative,” said the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) statement today.

All those who tested positive were referred to Miri Hospital and Tudan Covid-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) Clinic, and admitted to the hospital and Miri quarantine and low-risk patients treatment centre (PKRC).

The Jalan Samarakan Cluster involved a longhouse at Jalan Samarakan, spreading the disease through social interaction and close contact among the residents.

This cluster saw 79 individuals screened with 49 positive, 28 negative and two still awaiting lab results.

All those who tested positive were referred to Bintulu Hospital and admitted to the hospital and Bintulu PKRC.

At the same time, SDMC also announced the end to the Sungai Tengah Cluster in Bau after not recording any new positive cases in the last 28 days.

Meanwhile, the state has 77 active clusters, with 10 continued to report 141 new Covid-19 cases today.

On top of the list was the Muara Tabuan Cluster in Kuching (59), followed by Jalan Samarakan Cluster in Tatau (47), Bali Pie Cluster in Subis (24), Jalan Ilmu Cluster in Miri (4), Banting Cluster in Sri Aman (2), Sungai Parik Cluster in Sri Aman (1), Bunut Cluster in Mukah (1), Nanga Meruan Cluster in Selangau (1), Sungai Selangan Cluster in Sarikei (1) and Jalan Masket Cluster in Sebauh (1).
