Sabah politician charged with molesting two women

KOTA KINABALU (June 10): A politician claimed trial in the Magistrate’s Court here this morning to four counts of molesting an Unduk Ngadau (UN) contestant and a charge of molesting another woman.

Phillip Among @ Daniel Dell Fidelis, 52, who was brought before magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun, was charged under Section 354 of the Penal Code.

The indictment provides for a jail term of up to 10 years or with a fine or with whipping or any two of the punishments, upon conviction.

On the first count, Phillip was accused of molesting a woman at a living room of a premises at Asia City at 11pm on April 17.

On the second to the fifth counts, he was alleged to have molested the UN contestant at a studio at Asia City, inside a car, at the staircase beside a photo studio and at an office at Metrotown at 3.30pm, 9.45pm, 2pm and 10pm respectively on May 19.

He claimed trial to all the charges.

The court fixed July 14, 21 and 22 for pre-trial case management and released the accused on RM8,000 bail for each of the charges with two local sureties.

Counsel Marcel Jude Joseph and Abdul Fikry Jaafar Abdullah represented the accused.
