KOTA KINABALU: Sabah recorded 309 new positive Covid-19 cases on Friday, with six deaths in Tawau (2), Semporna (1), Sandakan (1), Kuala Penyu (1) and Beaufort (1) and a new cluster – Kopi Blues in Tawau.
With the new cluster, Tawau is back on top with 56 new cases followed by Lahad Datu (32), Kota Kinabalu (32), Kudat (27), Kinabatangan (26), Tuaran (21), Papar (19), Putatan (17), Kota Belud (17), Penampang (14) and Sandakan (10), said Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
“Cluster Kopi Blues involving community infection at Sri Tanjung.
“Index case was a 46-year-old housewife from Kg Lorong Saddani Batu 2 after tested positive in a symptomatic screening with her child on June 2,” he said.
Masidi added from 20 samples taken, 10 were confirmed positive, two negative and six more waiting for results.
Preliminary investigation found out all contacts met at Kampung Kopi Blues Batu 2, for a funeral and tahlil ceremony on May 29.
