Seven areas in Sabah under EMCO

KOTA KINABALU: Seven localities in Sabah will be placed under Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) after the Ministry of Health (MoH) detected a significant spike in Covid-19 cases there, said State spokesperson Datuk Masidi Manjun.

In Nabawan, Kampung Indah will be under EMCO from June 14 to 27 after a new cluster was recorded in the village, with nine positive cases from 31 samples taken.

In Tawau, two areas will be under EMCO from June 14 to 27 namely Taman Kinabutan Ria and Simpang Inderasabah.

Nine positive cases were recorded from 17 samples in Taman Kinabutan Ria, while 11 out of 12 samples from Simpang Inderasabah were tested positive of Covid-19.

Kampung Manggis in Kuala Penyu will be also be under EMCO from June 14 to 27 after seven out of 11 samples were tested positive.

In Kampung Baru (SFI) Sipitang, EMCO was decided after 29 positive cases were recorded from 46 samples taken.

Two more villages in Kota Belud are placed under EMCO, namely Kampung Tawadakan and Kampung Kota Bungan, after 12 positive cases were found in both localities with high infectious rates.

The EMCO will prevent any movement in and out of the localities and also to allow the MoH team to conduct targeted screenings.
