TEBEDU (June 13): The Covid-19 vaccination drive in Tebedu district is expected to be completed by end of August, said Tebedu assemblyman Datuk Amar Michael Manyin Jawong.
The state Education, Science and Technological Research Minister explained this is being made possible with the adoption of the hybrid approach that is to allow eligible rural folk to be vaccinated after their names have been registered by the Tebedu District Office through the respective Ketua Kaum (village chiefs).
He pointed out this hybrid approach is more effective since many of those eligible could not register their particulars on the MySejahtera mobile app due to lack of Internet access in their villages.
“It is expected that 70 per cent of the villagers in Tebedu District will be vaccinated by the end of August. This district covers 75 villages with a total of 37,000 people,” he was quoted as saying by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) after inspecting the first day of vaccination process at the Covid-19 vaccination centre (PPV) at Tebedu Community Hall yesterday.

A total 530 people were the first batch of Covid-19 vaccine recipients at the PPV yesterday. They comprised 218 people from Kampung Sebintin, Kampung Payau Brus (97) and Kampung Batu Bedang (192), while the other recipients were staff from the relevant agencies.
Manyin also said the response from the people in Tebedu district towards receiving the vaccines has been very good, and this is vital towards building herd immunity against Covid-19.
Several vaccine recipients when interviewed by Ukas said they welcomed the setting up of the PPV for Tebedu.
They also urged those in Tebedu not to to worry about receiving the vaccine because it is for the good of all.
