MIRI (June 13): Miri Hospital Visitors’ Board (MHVB) is raising fund for the installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) at Miri Hospital buildings, says its chairman Karambir Singh.

He told reporters yesterday that new project will be implemented in phases depending on funds collected.

“The target for Phase 1 and 2 is RM50,000. We have started collecting funds for Phase 1 and 2. Once these are completed, we will move to the next phase”, said Karambir

Phase 1 would involve CCTV at entrances and exits of the hospital to monitor traffic entering and exiting the facility while Phase 2, would involve corridors of intensive care unit (ICU), maternity ward, nursery and care centre.

He stated that the priority is phase 1 as entrances and exits are key places for security while Phase 2 is for the safety of patients, visitors and staff members.

“If we are able to get additional funds after Phase 1 and 2, we would install CCTVs at places such as parking areas and other sections of the hospital,” he added.

So far, the board has raised RM33,800 with RM10,000 handed over by Miri-based private company, Fastart Sdn Bhd director Michael Lee yesterday, witnessed by the board’s treasurer Iqbal Abdollah and Miri Hospital Director Dr Jack Wong.
