SIBU (June 15): A total of 582 individuals received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine at the vaccination centre (PPV) at Sibujaya Community Hall here on the first day of its operation yesterday.

Sibu Divisional Health Officer Dr Teh Jo Hun said the majority of the vaccine recipients were senior citizens.

“Those who failed to turn up to receive their vaccine, their slot will be given to others based on the list provided,” he said when contacted.

Dr Teh said the SibuJaya Community Hall is the second PPV that has been opened in Sibu after the Sibu Indoor Stadium.

According to him, the PPV at Sibujaya Community Hall is capable of administering 600 doses a day, with 20 Health Ministry staff manning its operation.

“They are also assisted by staff from other government agencies and volunteers,” he said.

He hoped that those who have not registered for Covid-19 vaccination will do so immediately.
