Covid-19: Slight drop in cases for Sarawak with 559 recorded today

KUCHING (June 17): The number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak dropped slightly today to 559 compared to 570 cases yesterday.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this placed Sarawak with the fourth highest number of infections in the country after Selangor (1,858), Negeri Sembilan (1,086), and Kuala Lumpur (641).

“The 559 new cases recorded in Sarawak today brought the state’s infections tally to 58,034,” he said in a Facebook post.

Dr Noor Hisham said Malaysia recorded a total of 5,738 new infections today, bringing the country’s cumulative number of cases to 678,764.

The other states that reported three-digit cases were Johor (449), Sabah (248), Kedah (197), Melaka (184), and Kelantan (154).

Other states and territories with fewer than 100 cases were Penang (97), Labuan (97), Terengganu (77), Pahang (54), Perak (30), and Putrajaya (7).

Perlis was the only state to report no new infections today.
