One of them was from a pre-Gawai ‘miring’ ceremony dubbed the Nanga Tada Cluster in Kanowit.

This cluster involved three longhouses at the Nanga Tada Resettlement Scheme, and the infection spread via a ‘miring’ ceremony held on May 31. The social and close contact intractions amongst residents also caused a second generation infection.

All those who tested positive were admitted to the Sibu Hospital, Kanowit Hospital and Kanowit district quarantine and low-risk patients treatment centre (PKRC).

The second cluster, dubbed the Sungai Kotak Cluster in Meradong involved a longhouse at Sungai Kotak. It spread though a burial, social interaction and close contact amongst the residents.
