203 new cases, two clusters, one death

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah recorded 203 new Covid-19 cases on June 24 with one death in the city centre and two new clusters, said State spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

The two new clusters are in Kinabatangan and Kalabakan.

“Kluster Paris Tiga in Kinabatangan involving a workplace linked to factory workers in Kilang Sawit Bell.

Index case was a 41-year-old clerk who was admitted at Lahad Datu Hospital on June 14.

“Following the case, close contact screenings were conducted and confirmed 28 new cases, where all patients are currently receiving treatment at Kinabatangan Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC).

“Kluster Brumas Camp in Kalabakan is a combination of workplace and community infection. Index case was a 50-year-old teacher at SK Brumas, who is also a committee member of Masjid Al- Ubudiyah at

Brumas Camp quarters in Perkayuan Sabah Softwood Plantation,” he said.

Masidi further explained that the index case was confirmed positive at Tawau Health Clinic on June 12.

As of June 22, a total of 75 contacts were screened and 19 new cases recorded including the index case’s wife and two children, one of them working at the plantation.

Masidi also updated that the total vaccine registration in Sabah on as of Thursday is 29.5 per cent.
