KUCHING (June 24): The Special Committee on Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV) has been asked to consider giving priority to supervisors and staff of early childhood centres under the vaccination programme.

Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said this is important in enabling these centres to operate and give confidence to parents to send their children to the nurseries and kindergartens.

“If supervisors and centre staff are vaccinated, we believe their safety is guaranteed and parents are also confident to send their children to these places,” she said during a press conference after chairing the Sarawak Women and Family Council virtual meeting here yesterday.

These centres are closed now due to the Movement Control Order (MCO).

Fatimah also suggested that places such as Community Rehabilitation Centres (PDKs) and One-Stop Early Intervention Centres at government hospitals or clinics or run by non-governmental organisations should also be prioritised in the vaccination programme.

“The operation of PDKs and other one-stop intervention centres for example is very important because there are those who were diagnosed with illness and need therapy,” she said.
