KOTA KINABALU: Sabah footballer Sabri Sahar is on a double mission with Sarawak United FC. The versatile midfielder, who joined Sarawak United on loan until the end of the current campaign, has vowed to recapture his best form and contribute to the team’s pursuit of the Premier League title.

“I’ve started training with the rest of the squad where we will have around nine to 10 sessions in a week.

“I’m fine here and the head coach (E. Elavarasan) is very good.

“That said, I’ve target that I hope to achieve and that is to make further improvement in my game and return to my best form.

“I want to give my best for Sarawak United and win a title,” said Sabri on Thursday.

Sabri has been an integral part of the Rhinos midfield since being roped into the senior team as a 17-year-old in 2009.

However, he suffered Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury that forced him to miss six months of football in 2019 and after recovering, he has found his game time limited.

He has only made a few appearances for Sabah FC in the Super League this season before making the loan move to Sarawak United during the second transfer window in May.

Sabri, who has been training at home here before joining with his new teammates in Kuala Lumpur where Sarawak United were based last week, could return to league action as early as next week.

For the record, Sarawak United are to take on hosts Selangor FC II in the postponed first round fixture that has been re-scheduled to June 29.

Sarawak United are the current leaders of the Premier League, the country’s second division football competition.

The squad under Elavarasan have collected 23 points from 10 games, recording seven wins, two draws and a defeat.

Negeri Sembilan FC and Terengganu FC followed closely on 22 points and 19 points respectively but both have played one game more than the leaders.

Meanwhile, Evan Wensley Wenceslaus and Arius Dius Jais are the other two Sabah FC players to play for new teams when the Premier League resumes next week.

Evan, a defender, and Arius, a forward, have joined fifth-placed Kelantan United FC on loan until the end of the 2021 season.
