KUCHING (June 25): A 17-year-old girl lodged a police report at the Kuching District Police headquarters after claiming that she was sexually harassed by a male teenager on social media chats.

Together with the victim were members from Parti Ikatan Demokratik Malaysia (Muda Sarawak) who demanded justice for the victim.

“We strongly condemn such acts as it will diminish the victim’s dignity and bring a negative impact to her mental state,” said Gerakan Mahasiswa Demokratik Sarawak head Nur A’inaa in a statement.

According to Nur A’inaa, the teenager has apologised to the victim over the act.

However, she believes that action must be taken against the teenagers as a lesson for them.

Meanwhile, when contacted, Parti Ikatan Demokratik Malaysia (Muda Sarawak) protem vice-president Jeffery Ngui said he believes that there are at least five other victims who have yet to lodge a police report on the matter.

He added that besides the Kuching District police headquarters, similar reports were also lodged by them at the Sungai Maong and Sekama police stations.

*Correction: An earlier version of this story reported that the victim had filed reports against two teenage boys and that she was accompanied by her parents at the police station.
