NSJA lauded for continuous blood donation drives

MIRI (June 27): The Northern Sarawak Journalists Association (NSJA) is lauded for continuously holding blood donation drives to help replenish stock in Miri Hospital Blood Bank.

“NSJA has been organising this life-saving mission annually. It has been very active in promoting blood donation especially to Mirians. Thus, I would like to congratulate NSJA led by its president Andy Jong and organising chairperson Michelle Choo for organising yet another event,” said Minister of Transport Datuk Lee Kim Shin who is also Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Miri Chapter deputy chairman.

Lee revealed that from March last year until June 11 this year, a total of 5,131 people had registered for blood donation at MRC Miri with 4,383 successful donors contributing 4,383 pints.

He urge Mirians to continue voluntary blood donation as Miri Hospital needs 20 to 30 pints daily.

Yesterday’s blood drive registered 134 who came forward with 108 successful donors.
