Police issue 60 compounds for SOP violations with 45 for breaking curfew

KUCHING (June 28): The police have issued 60 compounds for various violations of standard operating procedures (SOPs) in Sarawak today, said the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

In a statement, the committee said 22 compounds were issued in Kuching, Bintulu (10), Lawas (10), Sibu (8), Miri (3), Padawan (3), Saratok (2) and one each in Sarikei and Kota Samarahan.

It said 45 compounds were issued for being outside after 10pm without valid reasons, failure to check-in via MySejahtera (6), not wearing face mask (4), inter-district travel without permit (3), operating without permission (1) and violating the quarantine order (1).

Since March 18 last year, the committee said the police had issued 8,434 compounds.

Moreover, it added the local authorities under the Ministry of Local Government and Housing had issued three compounds for SOPs violations, with two from the Bintulu Development Authority and one from the Sibu Rural District Council.

The violations were failure to update or incomplete record book, failure to wear face mask and operating without permission.

The committee said the local authorities had issued a total of 1,186 compounds snice Feb 1 this year.
