TATAU (July 5): A total of 157 people from eight longhouses around Nanga Takan here received their first dose of the Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine on Sunday.

The mobile outreach vaccination programme was held at Rumah Belong Entalang, Ulu Anap Tatau from 8am to 5pm.

Besides residents from Rumah Belong, the other vaccine recipients were from Rumah Sayong Murapi, Rumah Andrew Jaraw, Rumah Philip Ngalambai, Rumah Enteri Anju, Rumah Gasah Sumbang, Rumah Mawang Mat, and Rumah Jeffery Nang.

Local community leader Penghulu Michael Agul thanked the government for holding the vaccination programme in his area, which is located far in the interior.

“I thank (Kakus assemblyman) Datuk John Sikie Tayai for his commitment in supporting the vaccination programme in this area.

“This mobile outreach vaccination programme is really helpful especially for the senior citizens,” he said during the programme.

He added the state government’s approach to inject first and register later for vaccination has also helped rural communities unable to register via MySejahtera due to poor internet connectivity.

Michael said apart from mobile vaccination, the people in his area also received their jabs at Nanga Tau Clinic in Anap, Tatau.
