KUCHING (July 7): Lundu and Pakan districts reverted to orange zone from red after recording 37 and 33 Covid-19 cases in the past two weeks, said the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

Kabong district on the other hand, reverted to yellow zone from orange after recording only 19 Covid-19 cases in the same duration.

“This brings the total number of red zones to 23, orange zone to four, yellow zone to 12 and one green zone,” said SDMC in a statement today.

The red zones were Betong, Bukit Mabong, Saratok, Tebedu, Telang Usan, Song, Bau, Meradong, Asajaya, Tatau, Sri Aman, Kanowit, Selangau, Subis, Mukah, Sarikei, Samarahan, Serian, Kuching, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and Sibu which recorded a total of 5,488 cases.

The other orange zones were Sebauh and Matu with a total of 128 cases, while the other yellow zones were Simunjan, Tanjung Manis, Julau, Lubok Antu, Dalat, Marudi, Beluru, Limbang, Pusa, Belaga and Lawas a total of 144 cases.

Daro remained as Sarawak’s sole green zone.

The Health Ministry categorises a district with no Covid-19 cases as a green zone, and over a two-week period, with one to 20 local transmission cases as yellow, 21 to 40 as orange and 41 and more as red.

At the same time, the statement also listed Everrise Plaza Merdeka in Kuching in the Health Ministry’s Hotspot Identification for Dynamic Engagement (HIDE) surveillance today.

Meanwhile, the police had issued 80 compounds, Kuching (39), Bintulu (25), Sibu (10), Betong (4) and Limbang (2) for violating the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP).

The top offence was not wearing face mask with 24 compounds, followed by loitering in public places past midnight (13), ferrying of passengers over the allowed limit (13), gathering and no physical distancing (12), operating non-essential premises (10), not scanning MySejahtera (6) and dining in (2).

“The total number of compounds issued since the Movement Control Order was implemented in March 18, 2020 to-date was 8,960,” said SDMC.

At the same time, an Indonesian man was arrested at a timber factory in Kuching for not scanning MySejahtera.

Similarly, the Local Government and Housing Ministry also issued two compounds, one each in Kota Samarahan Municipal Council and Sibu Rural District Council for not updating attendance book or incomplete book.

This brings the total number of compounds issued since Feb 1 to-date to 1,245.
