KAPIT (July 9): Recipients of the Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine gathered once again at the Kampung Muhibbah Mosque here yesterday morning to receive their second dose, thus completing the full regimen.

The walk-in vaccination centre at the mosque will be open for two days – yesterday and Saturday – to administer the second dose of the vaccine to the 840 individuals on record.

The medical assistant in charge of the vaccination centre, Alexander Ringga Edward, reminded those who were unable to turn up yesterday to ensure they show up this Saturday.

“The centre will be open from 8am to 5pm. Please come for your second dose and be punctual,” he said when met at the mosque.

He also reminded those turning up for vaccination to observe the standard operating procedures, wear face mask at all times, and maintain physical distance of at least one metre.

“The volunteers on duty will call out your name (to receive the jab) so there is no need to rush because you are already registered in the list (of recipients),” he added.

Community leaders Temenggong Wasli Nor, Pemanca Abang Hamzah Bolhassan and Ketua Kampung Razali Abdullah were present at the mosque to oversee and ensure the smooth flow of the vaccination process.

Based on 2020 data from the Department of Statistics, 90,900 out of 134,800 people in Kapit Division are aged 18 years and above, hence eligible for Covid-19 vaccination.

As of July 7, a total of 53,466 or 55.81 per cent of the eligible population here have received their first dose, while 20,659 or 22.73 per cent have completed the two-dose regimen.
