Continue to be vigilant, Lee tells oil and gas industry players

MIRI (Aug 22): The Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (MDDMC) has called on oil and gas industry players to continue to be vigilant and adhere strictly to Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Minister in-charge of the committee Datuk Lee Kim Shin, in press statement yesterday, said it was important that all oil and gas companies here make sure their workers and contractors have completed two doses of Covid-19 vaccines.

“We have held a number of meetings with Petronas and other major oil companies as well as local companies here to ensure they are fully aware on the latest Covid-19 SOPs.

Lee, who is also Transport Minister also thanked Petronas and other oil and gas companies here for their close cooperation all this while.

Petronas Sarawak general manager Zulaihi Mantali presented certificate of ‘focussed recognition’ to Lee when the latter came to the vaccination centre at Petronas Carigali heaquarters in Lutong.

Deputy state secretary (rural transformation) Datu Ik Pahon Joyik who is also the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) deputy chairman was also present.

The certificate was presented to Lee in recognition of his leadership in steering the vaccination efforts here involving workers in the oil and gas industry here and the setting up of the PPVIN Oil and Gas in Lutong.

More than 4,000 oil and gas industry workers have benefitted from the vaccination exercise.
