Covid-19: Sarawak records highest ever number of fatalities with 20, including three BID

KUCHING (Sept 19): Sarawak today recorded 20 Covid-19 fatalities today, out of which three were Brought-in-Dead (BID), said the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

This marks the highest ever number of Covid-19 related fatalities recorded by the state within 24 hours.

SDMC in its daily update statement said that two of the BID cases were recorded in Serian while one was from Sri Aman.

“The BID cases in Serian involve a woman aged 90 and a man aged 97. The former tested positive on Sept 8 and had comorbidities of high blood while the latter tested positive on Sept 9 with no known medical history.

“The BID case in Sri Aman involves a man aged 66 who tested positive on Sept 15. He had high blood and dyslipidemia,” SDMC said.

One death at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) involved a man from Bau aged 86 who was found positive on Aug 19. He had high blood, gout, chronic kidney disease as well as chronic heart and liver disease.

Another death at SGH involved a woman from Kuching aged 77 who tested positive on Sept 10 and she had high blood, dyslipidemia and gout. One other death, also at SGH, involved a 70-year-old man from Serian who tested positive on Sept 15. He had high blood.

A 62-year old man from Selangau passed away at Sibu Hospital. He tested positive on Aug 19 and he had high blood, diabetes, gout, stroke and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

A 79-year old woman from Lubok Antu, who died at Sri Aman Hospital, was found positive on Sept 3 and she had diabetes.

Another two deaths were recorded at Sibu Hospital involving a 70-year-old man and 52-year old woman. The man tested positive on Sept 4 and had COPD and chronic kidney disease while the woman was found positive on Sept 8 and had high blood, diabetes, dyslipidemia and heart disease.

A 75-year-old man from Matu died at Sibu Hospital. He tested positive on Sept 11 and had high blood, diabetes and dyslipidemia.

In Miri, two men aged 88 and 66 passed away at Miri Hospital, with the former testing positive on Sept 11 and the latter on Sept 12. The 88-year-old had high blood and COPD while the 66-year-old had high blood, dyslipidemia and heart disease.

In Sibu, two deaths were recorded at Sibu Hospital involving women aged 53 and 82 who both tested positive on Sept 12. The former had high blood, diabetes, dyslipidemia and heart disease while the latter had high blood and diabetes.

A 73-year-old woman from Lubok Antu had died at Sri Aman Hospital. She was found positive on Sept 12 and had high blood, diabetes, dyslipidemia and stroke.

A 90-year-old woman from Beluru died at Miri Hospital. She was found positive on Sept 14 and had high blood and COPD.

A 45-year-old man, who was found positive on Sept 15, from Bintulu died at Bintulu Hospital. He had high blood, diabetes, chronic kidney disease and heart disease.

A man from Sri Aman aged 74 had died at Sri Aman Hospital, while another man aged 68 from Kanowit died at Sibu Hospital. Both men were found positive on Sept 17.

The 74-year-old had heart disease, while the 68-year-old had high blood, diabetes, dyslipidemia and gout.

To date, Sarawak has recorded 689 deaths due to Covid-19.
