KUCHING (Nov 17): Sarawak’s death toll from Covid-19 rose to 1,543 following the addition of eight fatalities which occurred between Oct 14 and Nov 15.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in its Covid-19 daily update said the death cases were recorded in Sri Aman (3), Betong (3) and Kuching (2).

“In Sri Aman, the three fatalities involved male senior citizens who died at Sri Aman Hospital.

“One of them was a 74-year-old with hypertension and diabetes who died on Oct 14 while another victim, aged 73 with comorbidities of hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia and heart disease died on Nov 11.

“The other fatality involved an 86-year-old with hypertension and dyslipidemia. He died on Nov 15,” it said.

It said for the death cases registered in Betong, all victims had died at Betong Hospital.

“Two of the victims namely a 55-year-old man and 72-year-old woman had died on Nov 12. The latter had comorbidities of hypertension, diabetes and dyslipidemia while the male victim’s medical history was unknown.

“The other case from Betong involved a 79-year-old woman who had hypertension. She died on Nov 11,” it said.

The committee said in Kuching, the two victims, both male, had died on Nov 15 at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

“One of them was aged 77 with no known medical history while the other, aged 64, had diabetes,” it added.
