Covid-19: 287 out of 292 new cases in Sarawak today in Categories 1, 2

MIRI (Nov 19): Sarawak today saw a decline in Covid-19 cases, with 287 of today’s 292 new cases in Categories 1 and 2, involving asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic patients.

According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in its daily Covid-19 update today, Category 3 and Category 4 only recorded one case each while three were Category 5.

Patients in Category 3 have pneumonia but do not require oxygen support, while patients in Category 4 have pneumonia requiring oxygen support. Category 5 patients have pneumonia and require ventilator support.

Meanwhile, Kuching still topped the list today with a slightly higher number of new cases at 199 compared to yesterday’s 112.

Miri followed right behind with 34 cases, just slightly lower than yesterday’s 39 cases.

This was followed by Bintulu (29), Sibu (23), Serian (18), Limbang (16), Simunjan (8) and Lawas (7).

Samarahan, Sri Aman and Bau recorded four cases each while Saratok, Dalat and Tebedu three cases each.

Mukah, Lundu, Kanowit and Subis recorded two cases each followed by Kapit, Meradong, Song, Asajaya, Betong, Selangau, Matu, Tatau and Bukit Mabong with one case each.

While no new clusters were recorded in Sarawak today, six still remain active but no new cases emerged from there.

Meanwhile, SDMC also revealed that the state police have issued 11 standard operating procedure (SOP) violation compounds in Kuching, and one in Bintulu today.

The offences included failing to scan MySejahtera or record their visit to premises as well as not wearing face masks in public places.
