KOTA KINABALU (Nov 19): WSG Group has embarked on a new commercial project in Kinarut – Rose Avenue Plaza.

The business hub sits on a nine-acre land next to Rose Garden housing estate and is surrounded by bustling commercial activities and densely populated residential areas.

WSG Group managing director Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen said the Rose Avenue Plaza comprises 20 units of double-storey shoplots, including 16 intermediate units and four corner units.

“To date, 50 per cent of the shoplots have been booked, including the four corner units.”

The intermediate shoplots are priced at RM988,000 with a combined built-up area of 2,180 square feet (sq ft) for ground and first floors. The land tenure of the shoplots is 999 years.

The Rose Avenue Plaza is part of a bigger development plan which includes Servay Hypermarket and Rose Avenue Condominium.

Susan said construction for the commercial centre would commence in January 2022 and the project was expected to be completed in June 2024.

A soft launch is held for Rose Avenue Plaza at Palm Square, Centre Point Sabah here today (Nov 20).

She said the Rose Avenue Plaza would complement the new single-storey Servay Hypermarket and Rose Avenue Condominium, which is slated to be launched in November 2022.

The Rose Avenue Condominium stands 19 storeys tall with a total of 328 luxury residential units over two towers.

Susan said the company decided to expedite the development of Rose Avenue Plaza due to popular demand.

“I have been getting a lot of enquiries on Palm Square Commercial Centre (also developed by the WSG Group) but all the shops have been sold out or leased.

“Besides, we had been focusing on our projects in Papar.

“But the prospective buyers have urged our company to develop new shoplots in Kinarut so we decided to embark on this new project.”

Susan said the company has been getting a lot of calls from interested buyers since a signboard had been erected at the site and some have even made their bookings before the brochures were printed.

She said more people were turning to property investment after the movement control order (MCO) because unlike currencies, properties would not depreciate.

“Since the inter-district travel ban is lifted, we are seeing a growing interest in real estate products.

“The government has also allocated funding to make it easier for house buyers to secure financing, which augurs well for the property industry.”

Despite being a century-old township, Susan said Kinarut is thriving with commercial activities surrounded by increasingly populated neighbourhoods.

Kinarut is also home to 90-year-old SJK(C) Kin Kiau, Tien Nam Shi Temple, churches and mosques, she said.

“Although Kinarut is under the jurisdiction of Papar District Council, the town is only a short drive away from the state capital,” she added.

WSG Group has undertaken several major projects in Kinarut, starting with Taman Sungai Wang, comprising 207 double-storey terrace houses completed in 2010, followed by Rose Garden consisting 390 units of terrace and semi-detached house and 14 shoplots in 2013.

In 2015, the company developed Palm Square Commercial Centre and later Palm Condominium, which will have five residential towers with a total of 688 units upon completion.

WSG Group is also the developer of Benoni Gardens, Benoni Commercial Centre, Parklane City and Parklane Villa in Papar.

The soft launch of Rose Avenue Plaza was held in conjunction with a blood donation campaign organized by

The United Sabah Chinese Communities Association of Kota Kinabalu (USCCAKK) and the Women and Children’s Hospital (HWKKS) in Likas.

Susan, who is also the president of USCCAKK, said the blood donation drive was the third edition organized by the association.

The first and second editions have successfully collected 106 and 94 pints of blood for the hospital, she said.

She urged the public to come forward to donate blood, as every drop of blood is a gift of life.

The blood donation campaign is held at Palm Square, 4th Floor, Centre Point Sabah from 10am to 5pm today (Nov 20).
