Sandakan Polytechnic student starts cluster

KOTA KINABALU (Dec 1): Sabah recorded 467 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday and a cluster at an education institution in Sandakan.

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the Kluster Sungai Batang was triggered in Sandakan Polytechnic.

“A student was tested positive for Covid-19 and after close contact screenings were done, the Health Department found 23 more students had been infected.

“The cumulative number of positive cases so far are 24 people,” said Masidi.

He added that of the 467 cases on Dec 1, 97.4 per cent are in Categories 1 and 2, four in Category 3, one person in Category 4 and two people in Category 5.

Five more cases are still under further evaluation by the Health Department.

As of Nov 30, the infectious rate or R0/RT for Malaysia is 0.95 and Sabah is 0.96.
