Covid-19: Sarawak records 41 new cases today, one death on Dec 16

KUCHING (Dec 18): Sarawak recorded 41 new Covid-19 cases today, of which 40 were in Category 1 (asymptomatic) or 2 (mild symptoms), said the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

“From the 40 cases, 12 were in Category 1 while 28 were in Category 2. The remaining one case was in Category 5 (pneumonia and requiring ventilator support),” the committee said in its daily Covid-19 update.

This brings the cumulative tally of positive cases in Sarawak to 251,967.

On the breakdown of new cases, SDMC said that Miri recorded 16 new cases followed by Kuching with 10 cases.

Samarahan and Serian each recorded three cases while Sibu and Lundu each recorded two.

One case each was recorded in Bintulu, Limbang, Meradong, Subis and Telang Usan.

The other districts did not register any new cases.

Meanwhile, SDMC said there was one Covid-19 fatality recorded on Dec 16.

“The victim was a 53-year-old woman who passed away at Sarawak General Hospital. She had a history of hypertension, diabetes and dyslipidemia,” the committee said.
