MIRI (Dec 19): Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru (PBDSB) has vowed to continue with its quest to fight for the rights of the Dayak community despite losing in all 11 seats it contested in the just concluded 12th State Election.

Its president Bobby William said even though the party was defeated in the state election, they were very thankful and honoured that some 2,000 voters had cast their votes for the party’s candidates, including himself.

“This has lifted up our spirit, the fact that these voters believed in our struggle,” he said.

Bobby, who lost in Senadin after garnering only 511 votes, said losing yesterday’s election would not mean the end of PBDSB’s political struggle in Sarawak.

“That was just the beginning for us, and now we want to focus on what is ahead of us. We will be stronger and the voice of the Dayaks will one day be counted,” he added.

Bobby also called on all the Dayaks in the opposition parties namely Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB), Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) and Aspirasi to unite under one big umbrella with a common goal which is to fight against GPS in the next state election.

“As in any democratic system, bitter as it is, we have accepted our defeat. But for us, the fight for the Dayaks must continue.

“As the president of PBDSB, I hereby invite all Dayaks from PKR, DAP, PBK and Aspirasi to regroup under one umbrella.

“This is the only way forward for the Dayaks if we want to get stronger,” he said.

In the 12th State Election yesterday, GPS won 76 seats, while PSB secured four seats and DAP won only two seats.
