LAWAS (May 14): Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to join over 300 Bisaya people for the 17th Babulang Festival and Buffalo Race in Limbang early next month.
Acting Limbang Resident Sebi Abang said Abang Johari is expected to officiate at the much-anticipated Buffalo Race and Kuntul Berhias Race on June 4.
“The committee has lined up various events, which include babulang aerobics, football competition, open house and exhibitions, ” he told a press conference at his office in Limbang yesterday.
He said events like beauty pageant ‘Agak Asal Babulang’ and ‘Bodoro’ would be declared open by deputy premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan on June 3.
Babulang Festival and Buffalo Race are celebrated annually by the Bisaya community.
However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the festival was postponed since 2020.
