One killed, four seriously injured in 2-vehicle accident in Saratok

SARATOK (May 15): One was killed while four others suffered serious injuries in an accident involving an MPV and a saloon car at Jalan Pusa near here about 1pm yesterday.

According to a statement from the State Fire and Rescue Department’s Operation Centre, a woman passenger in the saloon car identified as Gelora Aman, 59, died while her husband, 61, and son, 30, were seriously injured.

Also seriously injured were the MPV driver, 49, and his wife, 47, the statement said.

When a team from Saratok fire station arrived at the scene, all the victims have been taken out of the wrecked vehicles by members of the public and then sent to Pusa Clinic.

“When our men went to Pusa Clinic to get details of the victims, their services were sought to send the injured victims and accompanying paramedics to Sarikei Hospital,” the statement said.

Firemen later helped to clear fragments from the damaged vehicles on the road to ensure safety of road users, the statement added.

Based on information given by the police, the woman passenger of the saloon car succumbed to her injuries while on the way to Pusa Clinic.

The cause of the accident has not been confirmed as investigations are on-going, the statement said.
