KUCHING (May 17): Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud has urged all government implementing and monitoring agencies to monitor the implementation of the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 projects and plans to achieve the desired outcome and targets.
He said PCDS 2030 is a long-term development plan in line with Sarawak’s aspiration to become a thriving society driven by data and innovation.
“This is so that we can enjoy economic prosperity, social inclusion and a sustainable environment.
“The PCDS 2030 will change the structure of the economy, modernise and improve productivity efficiency, increase household income and ensure environmental sustainability,” he said in his address at the opening of the 19th State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Sitting here today.
The Head of State expressed his confidence that the Sarawak government has drawn up a comprehensive implementation plan and ensured that all development projects can be implemented effectively in order to benefit the people.
“I also urge the private sector and all communities in Sarawak to give their full support and take an active part in this plan.
“With the full dedication and commitment of everyone, I am confident that in the next few years, Sarawak’s development landscape will change and our economy will continue to thrive,” he said.
Earlier in his speech, Taib said 2022 marks an important year for Sarawak in heading towards its economic recovery.
“While still facing the challenges of the effects from the Covid-19 pandemic, I am thankful that Sarawak is on the right track towards better recovery and economic growth.
“The reopening of economic sectors and social activities as well as the implementation of various high-impact development projects will certainly revive the activities of economic sectors previously affected by the pandemic,” he said.
