KUCHING (May 19): A crash at KM19.5 Jalan Bau-Kuching around 9.15am today left an ambulance ripped open on the back driver’s side.
In a statement, Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department head Supt Bingkok John said the ambulance belonging to a charitable organisation was heading towards Kuching from Lundu when a pickup truck allegedly entered its lane.
“The ambulance driver tried to steer left but somehow got clipped on its right side by the oncoming pickup truck,” said Bingkok.
The ambulance driver and a passenger suffered minor injuries in the accident.
The 59-year-old pickup truck driver and his 58-year-old passenger also sustained minor injuries.
Bingkok noted that the weather was clear during the accident.
“The case is currently being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he added.
