Covid-19 infection rate continues to rise in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU (May 19): The Covid-19 infection rate continued to rise in Sabah on Thursday with 56 new cases recorded in the past 24 hours.

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said more districts recorded an increase, while 13 districts did not record any cases.

“A total of 11 districts in Sabah recorded an increase, while seven districts recorded a decrease.

“The number of new infections in Kota Kinabalu continued to rise from 20 cases yesterday to 25 cases today. Nine districts did not record any infection yesterday. Among them are Putatan, Beaufort, Sandakan and Sipitang,” he said.

Masidi added that 54 of 56 cases recorded on Thursday are in Category 1 and Category 2.

There is one case each in Category 3 and Category 5.
