KOTA KINABALU (July 27): A paraglider was stuck on a tree for close to 10 hours before he was rescued by fire and rescue personnel at Bukit Kokol in Menggatal on Tuesday.
Lintas fire and rescue station chief Agustavia Joe Guasi said the 35-year-old victim only sustained minor injuries on his body following the 12pm incident.
“We received a distress call that a paraglider got stuck on a tree, about 30 meters high.
“After making our way to the victim’s location, which was about 2km from the control center, we passed the victim ropes and necessary equipment with a drone that was handled by D’Bayu Drone Club.
“The victim was brought down at around 10.13pm,” said Agustavia, adding that he was treated for his injuries at the location by EMRS personnel before he was escorted back to his homestay.
The operation ended just before midnight without any untoward incident, he said.
It was learned that the incident happened around 12pm on July 24, when the victim, who was paragliding, failed to control his parachute before getting stuck on the tree.
