Lorry driver nabbed in Mukah for allegedly possessing methamphetamine

Police personnel arrest the suspect at the roadside along Jalan Mukah-Balingian yesterday.

MUKAH (Aug 22): A lorry driver was arrested for allegedly possessing 19.81 grammes of methamphetamine worth RM1,981 yesterday.

Mukah district police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said the 31-year-old man was detained at the roadside along Jalan Mukah-Balingian at 10.35am.

“From the inspection conducted on the suspect’s sling bag, police found two transparent plastic packets and one straw tube containing crystal lumps suspected to be methamphetamine,” he said in a statement.

He added the suspect was also tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.

Muhamad Rizal said the suspect is being investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952 and Section 15(1)(a) of the same act.

According to Muhamad Rizal, the suspect has two previous criminal records for drug abuse.
