Sarawak records 798 Covid-19 cases in Epid Week 33

KUCHING (Aug 22): Sarawak’s weekly Covid-19 cases continued to see an upward trend as 798 cases were recorded in the state during Epidemiological (Epid) Week 33 compared to the 731 cases in the previous week.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said of the total cases, 778 were either asymptomatic or displayed mild symptoms.

“Three deaths were recorded in Epid Week 33 — one in Kuching and two in Sibu,” it added.

To date, Sarawak has recorded 311,772 positive cases.

Kuching district continued to top the list with 242 cases, followed by Sibu (138), Bintulu (113) and Miri (110).

Districts which recorded double-digit cases were Samarahan with 31 cases, followed by Serian (21), Sarikei (20), Bau (17) and Mukah (11).

Eight cases each were reported in Kapit, Subis, Lawas and Betong while Dalat and Sri Aman both recorded six cases each.

Limbang and Tatau each recorded five cases while four cases each were recorded in Kanowit, Simunjan, Lubok Antu and Kabong.

Selangau, Daro and Meradong each recorded three cases while Asajaya, Beluru, Pusa and Sebauh recorded two cases respectively.

One case each in Saratok, Marudi, Telang Usan, Julau, Song and Pakan.
