KUCHING (Jan 18): The Magistrates’ Court here today fined a kindergarten teacher RM1,000 in default two weeks’ jail for falsely filing a report that she had been robbed.

Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali convicted Zunizar Ini, 41, on her own guilty plea to a charge framed under Section 182 of the Penal Code.

The Section provides for an imprisonment term of up to six months or a maximum RM2,000 fine.

Zunizar committed the offence at the Kuching district police headquarters around 3.30pm on Jan 6.

Based on the facts of the case, a police officer interrogated Zunizar on her police report about being robbed and realised that the robbery never happened.

The investigation found that Zunizar had committed an offence with the intention of causing the police officer to use his legal authority to cause disaster to someone else.

Insp Mohd Adzmei Ahmad prosecuted the case while Zunizar was unrepresented by counsel.
