MIRI (Jan 19): A woman suffered injuries to her head and shoulder after the car driven by her teen son was rear-ended and plunged into a drain at Jalan Tudan last night.

Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) officer Mirwan Shah Masri said a four-member team led by Cpl (PA) Susiena Echa Luton was deployed to the scene after receiving a call at 7.54pm.

“Upon arrival, the team found the 40-year-old woman and a 19-year-old boy in a three-metre-deep drain by the roadside.

“Inspection found that the woman had suffered injuries to the left side of her head and suspected fracture to her left shoulder, while the boy was in a stable condition,” he said in a statement.

Both mother and son were given first aid at the scene by the APM team and later brought to Miri Hospital for further treatment.

It is understood that they were travelling in their Perodua Kancil when they were hit from behind by a Proton Saga.

The driver of the Proton Saga, who was also at the scene, did not suffer any physical injuries.

The APM operation ended at 9.07pm.
