Three nabbed in Kuching for suspected involvement in illegal gambling

KUCHING (April 16): Three local men were arrested by the police for their suspected involvement in illegal gambling activities during operations conducted between April 8 to 15.

Kuching district police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah in a statement said the operations were carried out around Kuching by the district’s Criminal Investigations Department.

“A total of three investigation papers has been opened to investigate the cases,” said Ahsmon.

He added that two investigation papers have been opened under Section 4(1)(c) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 for online gambling, while the other has been opened under Section 4A(a) of the same Act for selling illegal lottery tickets.

Ahsmon said police welcome any information from the public on illegal activities in their area and they are advised to call the nearest police station.
