GLC senior exec remanded over alleged corruption involving RM500,000

KUCHING (Sept 5): A senior executive of a government-linked company (GLC) has been remanded for five days to assist in a corruption investigation involving a sum of RM500,000.

The remand order on the suspect, in his 50s, was issued by Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali today following an application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

A source within the MACC said the suspect was arrested here on Monday evening.

The source added the senior executive allegedly demanded the sum from a contractor to acquire a tender worth RM70 million.

The case is being investigated under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009.
