KUALA LUMPUR (July 21): The highly anticipated 4th World Islamic Tourism Conference (WITC) is set to take place on September 12 and 13, showcasing the region’s commitment to Muslim-Friendly Tourism and Hospitality (MFTH).

At the media launch held at Sunway Resort Hotel in Bandar Sunway, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Malaysia (Motac) Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan took the initiative to become the first official registrant.

This year, Sunway Resort Hotel is proud to host the highly anticipated conference. Evenesis, the event management software supplier, is assisting WITC’s website, https://witc.gov.my, in enabling online payment acceptance.

This event aims to bring together 500 representatives from various industries including tourism, hospitality, Halal, transportation, and associated sectors, fostering cross-industry dialogue and collaboration.

Understanding the needs of Muslim tourists, promoting Muslim-friendly travel and community, and embracing inclusivity are key themes that will make this year’s WITC a valuable event focused on forging connections.

Renowned experts will generously impart their wisdom including Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Malaysia Dr Karomidin Gadoev, Undersecretary of Philippines Department of Tourism Myra Paz Valderrosa-Abubakar, Malaysia-Bosnia and Herzegovina Business Council vice-president Mirza Vejzagic, Batik Air CEO Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy, and Creed & Culture CEO Omar Dacosta Shahid.

With the theme “Forging Connections”, the conference is set to create a historic event by partnering with Sunway Resort Hotel as the venue and official hotel.

WITC’s involvement in the global MFTH sector and its partnership highlight the significance of connecting key industry participants, enhancing strategic alliances, and promoting future growth in Malaysia and beyond, particularly with the upcoming Visit Malaysia 2026.

Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC) is currently offering a special promotion where you can enjoy a 50 per cent discount on registrations made before August 31.

Malaysians have the opportunity to register for only RM125, while international delegates can take advantage of a discounted rate of US$50.

All eligible Malaysians are able to claim the 4th WITC through HRD Corp.

MyKad holders have the convenience of paying through various methods, including online bank transfer, E-wallet, debit, or credit.

Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, and Amex can be used by individuals who do not possess a MyKad, whether it is for debit or credit transactions.

ITC director-general Nizran Noordin emphasised that WITC is a conference focused on thought leadership, where participants can share insights, exchange ideas, and contribute to the development of sustainable Islamic Tourism.

“This year’s WITC will focus on connecting destinations, fostering mutual understanding, enhancing economic collaboration, encouraging cultural exchange, and promoting innovation and sustainability.

“In addition, the conference aims to garner support for Malaysia’s Umrah Transit Hub, a comprehensive plan that aims to benefit Malaysia and all participating nations by promoting socio-economic inclusivity,” he said.

“This initiative aims to showcase Malaysia’s position as a welcoming destination for Muslim travelers in the region, its dedication to promoting sustainable tourism, and fostering cultural exchange between different countries,” he added.

Once again, Malaysia has been recognized as the Top Muslim-Friendly Destination (OIC) in the Mastercard-CrescentRating Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) Report.

This prestigious title has been held by Malaysia since 2015, solidifying its reputation as a top choice for Muslim travelers.

This recognition enhances Malaysia as an ideal destination for both leisure and business travelers, particularly those who appreciate the country’s unique blend of ecology, culture, nature, and modern attractions.

Islamic Tourism, MFTH, and WITC focus on the Muslim tourism industry, which is projected to reach USD 225 billion by 2028, highlighting the promising future of this sector.
