Police hunt for suspects in Batu Niah estate rioting, vandalism case

MIRI (Aug 21): Police are searching for suspects involved in a recent case of rioting, trespassing and property damage at an estate in Batu Niah.

Miri district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said that police had received a report on the incident on Aug 18.

“The complainant alleged that several individuals had trespassed onto the estate and damaged the company’s property,” he said in a statement last night.

Following the report, Alexson said police have opened an investigation under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting, Section 447 of the Penal Code for trespassing and Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief.

He urged the public to refrain from speculating the case.

He advised anyone with information related to the case to go the nearest police station or contact investigating office ASP Anuar Affindi at 085-433730.
