KUCHING (Sept 1) Three rabies cases were reported over the week, with two occurring in Kuching and one in Bintulu, said Kuching South Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng.

He said one of the cases recorded in the city involved a pet dog wandering around the community in Sin San Tu, Batu Kawa, while the other involved a stray dog at Jalan Penrissen.

“The third case happened at St Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bintulu. All the dogs involved in these cases were tested positive for rabies,” he said during his Facebook live session ‘Shall WEE Talk’ yesterday.

On complaints about rising airfares and frequent changes of flight schedules, Wee called upon the government to come up with a good policy to address these issues.

He said the soaring air fares and unexpected changes of flight schedules had severely affected many travellers, especially those working and studying outside Sarawak.

He suggested the government work to minimise frequent flight rescheduling to avoid inconveniencing people.

“The relevant departments and agencies should be more considerate and give their best to offer guaranteed services for all,” he said.

On another matter, Wee appealed to the community to settle their overparking coupons issued within the Kuching South City Council’s (MBKS) jurisdictions by Sept 30 to enjoy a 50 per cent discount.

He said people should grab this opportunity to clear their outstanding payments on overparking.

“MBKS is set to take legal action against those who still do not settle their overparking coupons. Now that MBKS is offering a 50 per cent discount, do not miss out on this chance,” he added.
