KAPIT (July 19): Two Iban community leaders here recently received their appointment letters.
Works Minister and Kapit MP Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi handed over the letters to Pemanca Pasang Tubak, 69, and Penghulu George Tang, 60, at Rumah Ukau, Mujong, Baleh.
Pasang served as headman in Nanga Ensilai, Rajang River from 1999 until 2016, when he was appointed penghulu.
He would hold the post until Jan 1 this year, when he was appointed pemanca.
He succeeded former pemanca Enggin Nyipa, who opted to retire at the age of 83.
Tang previously served as a Kapit District Council councillor for 10 years.
He then succeeded his father as tuai rumah at Pala Wong, Pelagus where he served for three years until he was appointed penghulu.
The other Dayak community leaders for Kapit District are Penghulu Langan Dari, Penghulu Daniel Dian, Penghulu Madang Jelaini, Penghulu Lawrence Bandat (Tanjung), Penghulu Esit Nalo (Begatan), and Penghulu Stephen Jana.
For Bukit Mabong District, the Dayak community leaders are Pemanca Bunsu Geringgang, Penghulu Sallang Batang, Penghulu Undie Bajal, Penghulu Linggi Maseng, and Penghulu Anyie Kumbong.
The Dayak temenggong for Kapit Division is Datu Wilfred Billy Panyau.
Among those present during the handing over of appointment letters were Deputy Minister of Digital and Hulu Rajang MP Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong and Pelagus assemblyman Wilson Nyabong Ijang.
