MIRI (Sept 24): All Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) stations here are fully prepared for the rollout of the targeted RON95 petrol subsidy system, ‘Budi Madani RON95’ (Budi95), which takes effect on Sept 30, said Miri MP Chiew Choon Man.
During a visit to the Petronas station in Morsjaya yesterday morning, he said he was satisfied with the station’s readiness for the implementation.
“From my observation, all outdoor terminal ports at this station are ready. The station manager, Cindy Ling, also demonstrated the system to me, and it is simple and easy to understand.”
Chiew urged the public not to panic or rush to refuel on the first day of the subsidy’s rollout.
“If there is no urgent need, there is no necessity to come on the first day. Let those who really need petrol on that day be the ones to fill up. There is no cause for worry.
“My thanks to the government for introducing this programme, which will help ease the people’s burden,” he added.
Meanwhile, Ling assured that her staff are prepared to assist motorists who may face difficulties using the system.
She reminded motorists to ensure the chip on their MyKad is in good condition and that their driving licence is valid.
“To use the subsidy, customers need only insert their MyKad into the outdoor terminal port, where their subsidised petrol balance will be displayed. They can then select the desired amount and pay by credit or debit card.
“For cash payments, motorists can proceed to the counter, where their MyKad will be verified before payment and refuelling. The system will then automatically deduct the balance from their subsidy quota,” she explained.
Ling added that contingency measures are in place to process transactions manually in the event of internet or system disruptions.
She also encouraged consumers to download the Setel or Touch ‘n Go apps for smoother transactions.
