KUCHING: The magistrates’ court here sentenced a resident from Taman Malihah to jail for beating his own mother early this month.
For the first charge, Magistrate Maris Agan sentenced Walesa Pelawan, 22, to six months in jail after he pleaded guilty to having verbally threatened the victim at a house at Taman Malihah on March 2.
The accused was convicted under Section 506 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum jail of seven years, or with a fine, or with both.
The accused also pleaded guilty to a second charge of injuring the victim at the same time and place.
A medical report from the Sarawak General Hospital stated that the victim suffered superficial wound on her face and head.
He was convicted under Section 323 of the Penal Code and was sentenced to one year in jail.
The magistrate ordered the jail terms to run concurrently.
