SIBU: Hock Peng Organisation (Hock Peng) through its subsidiary, Li Hua Group expects its new Li Hua Hotel at the Jaya Li Hua Commercial Centre here to achieve a 60 per cent occupancy rate this year.

Its deputy chairman, Dr Francis Toh Chiew Peng said the 142-room hotel, which has three meeting halls, is the seventh hospitality property owned by the company whose core business is property development.

He said it is located in the vicinity of the Sibu Bus Terminal, shopping malls, banks, 24-hour eateries, retail outlets and other key amenities.

It is also only a 20-minute drive from the Sibu Airport and 10 minutes away from the Sibu Express Boat Terminal, he told reporters at the opening of the hotel yesterday. He declined to disclose the hotel’s construction cost. Hock Peng has three more Li Hua hotels.

They are located in Jalan Maju here, the Berjaya Commercial Centre, Jalan Sultan Iskandar, Bintulu, and Jalan Green, Mukah.

The company also owns three other hotels under different brand names, namely Medan Hotel near Medan Mall in Jalan Wong King Huo, at the Jaya Li Hua Commercial Centre here, and the Betong new township.

Toh said the new three-star hotel could ease the demand for rooms at Medan Hotel.

The room rates start from RM98 for a deluxe king room to RM388 for an executive suite, inclusive of breakfast and WiFi, while each room has a 32-inch LCD television, Astro channels, tea and coffee-making set, and an individually-controlled air conditioning unit. — Bernama
