KUCHING: Three male suspects involved in a cheating case yesterday were ordered to be remanded for four days until July 24 to facilitate police investigations.
The first suspect from Indonesia, 44, allegedly showed a 6D ‘winning ticket’ to the 64-year-old victim and told him that he could not cash out the money as he is an Indonesian.
The drama continued with the timely appearance of another two suspects, a 61-year-old man and a 60-year-old man, who ‘congratulated’ the Indonesian and assured the victim that the first suspect had won RM20,000.
The Indonesian then asked the victim to let him use his account to deposit the money and promised to reward him with 10 per cent of the 6D winnings.
The victim was convinced by the suspects and followed them to the bank.
The suspects then asked the victim to withdraw all his RM6,700 from his savings account, with the reason that to deposit the RM20,000, he needed to ‘clear’ his account.
After the trio took the RM6,700 cash, they fled.
Police applied for remand of the suspects under Section 420 of the Penal Code following their arrest.
