KUCHING: A month-old infant boy was hospitalised along with eight others following a collision between two cars and a motorcycle along Jalan Matang-Jalan Batu Kawa yesterday morning.
The accident happened around 8.30am when a Perodua Kancil car carrying the infant, his parents, elder sister and grandparents veered out of control into the opposite lane where it collided with a Toyota Carina before overturning onto its roof.
An elderly man and his grandson travelling behind the Carina on a motorcycle were also injured, as was the Carina driver, when they crashed into the rear of the car.
All nine accident victims were sent to the Sarawak General Hospital where the infant ended up being admitted into the Red Zone, while the rest were treated in the Yellow and Green Zones of the hospital’s Accident and Emergency Unit.
It was learned that the family in the Kancil had arrived here from Simunjan on Friday for the infant’s one-month check-up at a government clinic and had spent the night at a relative’s house in Matang before making their way back to Simunjan when the accident occured.
