KUCHING: The Sarawak Bodybuilding Association (SBA) has proposed the privatisation of the Sarawak State Sports Council gymnasium to allow the public to use it during weekends and public holidays.

SBA president Dato Wee Hong Seng said this would enable more people who wanted to get into shape to use the facilities at the gym.
Wee and SBA members brought the proposal to attention of the Social Development and Urbanisation Ministry during a courtesy call on the Minister, Dato Sri William Mawan at his office in Masja.
Mawan said his ministry would make a thorough study on the proposal as there are a few factors to be considered, one being the charges to be imposed.
Mawan added that his ministry gave SBA a RM15,000 grant annually and advised the association to apply early if it needed for more funding.
“I will ensure the annual grant will be increased to help SBA organise more bodybuilding contests next year,” he added.
The Mr Kuching, Mr Sibu and Mr Miri competitions will be held in May and Mr Sarawak pageant in June next year.
