KUALA LUMPUR: The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) will wait for the outcome of a trial involving a Malaysian referee, Shokri Nor, who was charged with allegedly attempting to fix a Super League match between Lions X11 from Singapore and Sarawak.

The FAM Referees Committee chairman Datuk Astaman Abdul Aziz said the FAM should respect the legal process of the republic before deciding on any action taken against the alleged accused.

Singapore media reports said Shokri, 47, together with another Malaysian, Thana Segar Sinnaiah, 38, were arrested on Tuesday (May 22).

Shokri was alleged to have agreed to a RM15,000 bribe to fix Tuesday’s match which was eventually won by the Lions X11 side, beating Sarawak 3-0.

“To us (FAM) let the legal process in Singapore take its course. We will wait for the outcome. It is now up to the court in Singapore to determine the case and we will respect the decision,” he told Bernama here Thursday –Bernama
